This album known as The Doors is the debut album of the rock band, The Doors. It is said to be one of the greatest albums of all-time, and helped to pioneer the psychedelic rock movement. It is currently number 42 in the Rolling Stones 500 Greatest Albums of All-Time List.

The album was recorded in six days. It was recorded at Sunset Sound Studios in Hollywood. The band had difficulty finding a producer, and due to that the band was released from a six-month contract with Columbia. They were signed to Elektra afterward.

The album is commonly said to be one of the greatest albums of all time. It is number 42 on ROlling Stone's 2012 rendition of their 500 Greatest Albums of All-Time list.
